Did you know that a goldfish can grow up to 12 to 14 inches long, sometimes even more! IF it’s placed in a large, healthy environment like an open body of water? But most people never see that.
Why?
Because goldfish are often kept in tiny bowls or tanks, confined to just a few gallons of water. Their growth gets stunted. Not because that’s all they’re capable of, but because that’s all the space they’ve been given to become. Sound familiar? Maybe, you’re a goldfish who’s outgrown the pond. Maybe you’ve been trying to shrink your potential to fit in with people, places, and patterns that were only meant to serve a season. But now you’re growing. You’re changing. You feel the tension. The pull. The ache. That stirring in your bones that says, “This isn’t it. There’s more.”
You’re right. You are meant for more.
You are allowed to grow beyond where you started.
You do deserve a bigger pond, and you know what..not everyone is going to like it.
As you begin to expand, emotionally, spiritually, mentally. Some people will try to drag you back down to who you used to be. They’ll compare you to the version of you they’re comfortable with. The version they can control. The version who stayed small and didn’t ruffle any feathers.
They’ll say, “You’re acting different.”
Good. You didn’t come this far just to stay the same.
Growth is not betrayal. It’s obedience to your calling.
And when you feel the stretch, it’s time to move. It’s time to trust the water is bigger. That your purpose requires more room.
So put on the blinders. Tune out the noise. Don’t let their perception of your past override your pursuit of your future. Don’t let their perception of your past override your pursuit of your future.
Keep swimming. Keep growing. Keep climbing.
Because you weren’t made to stay in a bowl.
